Charities aimed at India

posted Wednesday, 3 June 2009

I've just seen an advert for action aid.
Very noble and worth while in most cases but this advert was aimed at a child living in the slums of Bangalor.
Now here's where I get just a tad angry.

Don't get me wrong, I really sympathise with these children and their families but I absolutely refuse to give money to help a country feed it's people when that country spends BILLIONS of pounds on it's own space program!!
Nice to know what your own governments priorities are.

How can the Indian government justify spending Billions on a space program and just leave millions of it's own people to starve and live in pittiful conditions. It's just not right.

When people support charities that give money to India they are literally telling the Indian government that it's OK for them to treat people in this abysmal way because the well off and gullible people from the rest of the world will keep paying for their shortcomings.

Does anyone ever look at it like this?
I know it's hard to leave people in that state but unless we put our collaborative feet down with the Indian government things just aren't going to improve and they will never get out of the slums.
