I went for a job interview today and got it!
I really didn't feel like I had when I walked away from the interview but surprise surprise they phoned a little while ago to say it's mine if I'm still interested!
I am now a Family Care Assistant on the children's ward at our local hospital. Basically I will be doing all the non clinical duties so that the nurses can concentrate on the clinical duties. I will meet and greet families and help to reassure and calm parents in stressfull situations. I will also help with stock ordering and keeping the treatment rooms in well stocked condition ready for use.
I am hoping this will be a more satisfying job than the one I held for a record 3 months last year! I think I will actually be able to help people in this job and actually enjoy doing it. On a quick walk round the ward I felt that all the staff were very friendly and happy in their work. It also looks like I will be going out 'with the girls' on occasions as well.
I have high hopes for this job. I hope it stands the test.
I won't be starting for at least another 4-6 weeks because they now have to do reference checks and also a CRB check because I will be working with children.
That gives me plenty of time to get on top of all the housework and gardening and get the manual written for my husband and kids in the hopes that they will actually start to realise they need to help more now that I'm working again.
We'll see.
Congratulations! Sounds like the whole thing went VERY well :)
