I have just seen a pre-air of the first episode of season three of the Tudors and boy oh boy is it off to a cracking start.
The sumptuous feel of the sets and costumes is still a high priority and they look truly stunning as always.
The reformation is well and truly underway by the end of this episode.
Jane Seymour is pittifully unaware of when to keep her mouth shut!
Cromwell manages to piss the King off and as this season is apparantly taking us through Henry's marriages to Anne of Cleves and Catherine Howard as well, I think Cromwell is destined to lose his head well before the end.
I believe Cromwell lost the Kings blessing after convincing him to Marry Anne of Cleves after only seeing a painting of her. When he finally meets her he is said to have described her as 'The Mare of Flanders!'
Cromwell was later attainted and then beheaded.
(Attainted means the metaphorical 'stain' or 'corruption of blood' which arises from being condemned for a serious capital crime (felony or treason). It entails losing not only one's property and hereditary titles, but typically also the right to pass them on to one's heirs.) He 'really' pissed Henry off!!!
So! 3 marriages, an uprising by the common people against the reformation and plenty of beheadings and hangings! Not to mention the ever gorgeous Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Henry Cavill.
Can't wait to see how they deal with the 'obesity' issue that has to raise it's head this season.
